We have specifically designed this retreat to coincide with the Balinese New Year celebration of Nyepi. We love the way the Balinese ring in the New Year - big street parades with handmade giant demons and lots of noise, followed by a day of silence when the entire island shuts down.
Retreat guests have the special opportunity to attend the local village Ogoh-Ogoh parade. This ceremony symbolises the island's purification of evil spirits in preparation for the new year. This is the Balinese equivalent of a New Year’s Eve party - streets shut down, lots of noise, dancing, singing and Arak. It’s a BALI PARTY!
According to Hindu traditions of Bali, Nyepi represents the effort of the people to maintain balance and harmony. The Balinese believe that the spirits fly over the land of Bali thinking it is uninhabited during the day of silence.
Don’t worry though, we will still practice yoga, and have plenty of delicious food and drinks available. Hopefully the night is clear because the stars are breath taking.

WATER PURIFICATION CEREMONY
Led by our beautiful Balinese host, enter the sacred grounds of the Mengening Water Temple where you will participate in the ancient tradition of water purification. This experience is steeped deeply in the Balinese culture of prayer, purification and blessing.

BALINESE COOKING CLASS
Starting with an early morning trip to a local food market, this experience is a great introduction into daily Balinese culture and life. Your Qualified Chef and guide will teach you about local tastes, flavours, and customs - BARTERING! - before taking you back to the cooking school to prepare a delicious feast of traditional Balinese dishes.

Our villa is a private oasis, with staff available at our request for daily housekeeping and is serviced by private security throughout the night, ensuring you are safe and comfortable throughout your stay whilst also maintaining a home like feel.
